Wai-Yuk is always keen to take on new challenges posed by customers. Anyone looking for a specific textile item, e.g. a piece of jewellery to match a particular outfit, should get in touch with her to discuss the project.
Here are a couple of challenges she has taken on:
4D Textile Sphere
This “4D Sphere” was commissioned by Cornish sculptor Samvado. The aim was to replicate one of his forms in textile, rather than his normal wood or metal. Calculating the patterns for the various fabric pieces was a big challenge, as was the final stitching but the customer was pleased with the end result.
For more details on the 4D Sphere you can visit the Samvado website.
Textile Necklace
This was a commission to make a neckpiece to match a specific dress. The customer had bought a vintage dress in a pale mushroom colour to wear at a wedding and wanted an eyecatching accessory that would enhance the dress. This commission was very enjoyable as it gave Wai-Yuk the chance to explore a whole new area of colour.
